First look at the new shows beginning this Summer

With the shows that began in the Spring nearing their halfway point, and some ending or being put on hold until the Fall, there will now be a number of new series for (what I consider) the slop Summer season.  There are a number of shows on my radar that are slated to begin airing in July.  Here is a quick rundown on them with some hopes attached.

RE:_Hamatora (Re:_ ハマトラ):  Hamatora returns with a second installment after that cliff hanger ending to the first 13 episodes in the Winter.  I both like and hate this show but am happy to see it return so I can find out what the hell happened!

Strange+ (ストレンジ・プラス): For some reason this potty humor gag series is coming back.  Which is OK as the frantic episodes are only a few minutes in length.

Glassip (グラスリップ):  A slice of life romance series with a super natural twist by Pony Canyon...we will see whats up when it airs.  50/50 on this one being worth any time.  It may end up being pretty dull.

Tokyo Ghoul (東京喰種): A shonen action series about a guy who gets a transplant from an 'undead' ghoul and has to start entering the world of the ghouls.  Probably lots of exciting fight scenes and moments of machismo/ganbarre.

Aldnoah.zero (アルドノア・ゼロ): A space mecha war show that appears to contain dangerous levels of moe...we will see though.  This appears to be the year of half way decent mech shows though.

Sabagebu (さばげぶっ): Survival Game Club, potentially ultra moe slice of life series about high school kids in a survival game club.  Might pander too much to the military otaku for my tastes, but I will test the waters on this one.

Maido! Urayasu Tekkin Kazoku (毎度!浦安鉄筋家族): Odd looking gag manga series...I like gag manga...so we will see.  No clue what the plot is about.

Himegoto (ひめゴト):  This could be a sickening harem series.  Deals with a main character who ends up becoming the lackey for an small all girls club in school due to some debts...we will see, but may end up on the wayside quickly.

Gekkan Shojo Nozaki-kun (月刊少女野崎くん): Love story dealing with a high school aged shojo manga-ka.  I'm reading Bakuman right now so this will probably hit closer to my enjoyment right now that it might normally.

Toyko ESP (東京ESP): School aged girl in a strained home life who all of a sudden gains extra sensory abilities.  Potentially moe...time will tell.

Ao Haru Ride (アオハライド): Shojo story about a girl who try's to become less pretty in high school due to her feelings towards others opinions of her.

Barakamon (ばらかもん): I have been waiting for this one since the Fall.  The story deals with an artists who moves to a remote village to reset his life.

Zankyo no Terror (残響のテロル): Story about some kids trying to fight terrorism in Tokyo, probably no where near as creative of fun to watch as Eden of the East. (EDITED 6-12-14)  I take this back, this series looks cool as hell.  Directed by Shinichiro Watanabe with a score by Yoko Kanno.  Check out a PV here!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDtA8aYjzzM

Shonen no Hollywood (少年ハリウッド ): No clue...something by Starchild.  Art looks nice, but it could be a shonen-ai title for all I can tell.  The Japanese site for the series has no info on the story.

Shirogane no Ishi Argevollen (白銀の意思 アルジェヴォルン): Yet another mecha combat series, this one by Xebec.

Hanayamata (ハナヤマタ): Cute slice of life story about a group of 14 year old girls who like dancing, may be less comedic than Ichigo Mashimaro but the fact it was serialized in a seinen magazine seems...odd.

Nyanpuku Nyaruma(にゃんぷくにゃるま) : No clue, this appears to be a cute and off beat series of shorts dealing with living lucky cat dolls.  PoyoPoyo anyone?
