Black Bullet - Dumped

Black Bullet (ブラック・ブレット) is a super natural action series currently airing in Japan (spring 2014).  The series is slated to run for 13 episodes and is based on the light novel series of the same name.

A mysterious invasion/infection caused massive destruction to the human population.  The war against this invasion/infection known as Gastrea was costly and long.  Humanity clings to survival in pockets of civilization, protected from the roving Gastrea hordes with monoliths of a mysterious element that repels them.  The pockets of humanity run as semi-autonomous cities and utilize special enforcement units, known as Civil Securities to prevent and fight any infections that pop up inside of the safe zones.  Civil Security teams take a normal human called an initiator and pair them up with a 'cursed child', a girl who was born from a mother infected by the Gastrea.  The cursed children, having the virus in them, suppress their transformation and gain incredible strength and powers.  On the other hand they are loathed and feared by the rest of humanity and are hated.  The story deals with Rentaro Satomi and his cursed child partner Enju Aihara as they work hard to protect their city and live normal lives in the process.  Forces beyond them are moving to make their life difficult and they must use their skills and connections to keep what little safety remains in the world.

On the outside this seems like an interesting series, and at times it had some good moments and an interesting concept.  But at some point the heavy and weight of the ever present loli-con factors in this series became too much for me to endure.  The cursed children are all 10 year old girls in cute costumes who flip around and murder things with sociopathic glee.  That and the ridiculous history of the main character and all his connections with the people who run the city and the fact has part cyborg and part Gastrea became too much to handle.  He would get into really bad situations and all of a sudden some upgrade he had would get pulled out of the writer’s asses and bam!  He's fucking hardcorer.  I couldn't handle it any longer.  The frilly dresses and assault weapons and physics defying bust lines and snide throw away side characters just became more than I could bear.  After 9 episodes, with the end in sight, enough time was wasted on the marginal show to begin with.  Damn.
