Solo Camping For Two (ふたりソロキャンプ) Is a 24 episode slice of life series based on the manga of the same name by Debata Yubai. The series ran between the Summer and Fall of 2025.

Shizuku is earnest in her desire to be a competent solo camper and uses every opportunity she can to gain that skill from Gen. But as they spend more time together and she focuses more on the technical side of the pursuit, she begins to develop feelings for the older, grumpy man. So now, with her desires to be near him as much as possible she needs to figure out how deep her feelings go and how to break through his cold exterior. As they spend more time together they end up introducing each other to people they are close to. Everyone, other than Gen, can see whats going on and support Shizuka's efforts in their own way. Not wanting to force anything they let their relationship growth take its time. But can Shizuka express herself to him before he grows wary of her intrusion into his solitude?
This is mid of the road in a lot of factors. Its a passable iyashikei. Its a passable romance. Its a passable camping tutorial...actually it does a rather detailed job at that last point. For me the instructive iyashikei model really got set with Laid-back Camp and a tough standard was set. The character designs are somewhat lacking, even though the try to be more realistic than Laid-back Camp. But there is too much simplicity in them where I would like to see a bit more detail. Shizuka is mildly fan-service-y in her design. For a drawing she's cute and has a large chest, but what purpose does that really serve for the story and her character over all? In the first episode the audience is served up with a mildly gratuitous panty shot which really doesn't come back into play for the remainder of the story. Gen is less unrealistic but he's unexplainably chiseled.
At the half way point it didn't seem like there was any need for the series to be two cour in length. That changed as the back half of the story kicked in and I did enjoy most of the stories run. One thing that is frustrating is we never learn anything about Gen's life outside of camping. What the hell does he do for a career? We no Shizuka is a college student but literally nothing about Gen. The best feature is how it took a while to explain what looked like an odd design choice in Gen and a mark he has on his face. Eventually you learn it is a burn scar from when he was young and struggling with the death of his father. That was a nice touch that I am glad was actually an integral part of his back story. It would have been nice if there was more of him that was fleshed out to that extent. It was fine though, it delivered but it wasn't anything truly praise worthy. Its strongest trait was that it wasn't terrible. That's not really a good place to sit in the long run.
The series is available on Crunchyroll.
